What Does It Mean To Be Thankful Essays

Thankfulness is being able to have a certain degree of appreciation for a certain thing, place, or person. Appreciation is the main aspect of being thankful. People who are thankful for something usually show their thankfulness in certain ways. One such way is through thanksgiving, where we celebrate our thankfulness of each other and the houses and meals we have been blessed with. Thanksgiving is the time to be thankful of our friends, our family and ourselves.

To me, thankfulness means that a person has realized the true value of something and is willing to do something to prove it. Showing your thankfulness does not come just once a year, but all year round. For example, lets say that a person named Jennifer has a cat. She loves her cat very much, so she gives her cat a wind-up mouse to show her appreciation. A person does not have to necceseraly do or give something to someone to show their appreciation, but to simply have the thankfulness within themselves.

Thankfulness is very important to my father. My father tells me that I should be appreciative for everything that I have, becuase when he was little his family couldn’t afford anything. He tells me that I am very fortunate, becuase I dont have to suffer such harships. Thanfulness is also very important to my aunt. She tells me that if a person does not appreciate something, then that person most likely does not deserve something.

Thankfulness has occured many times during my week. Some things are during class. My teacher is thankful of my citizenship, so in return he/she gives me a good citizenship grade. Another way that thankfulness has applied to me during this week is that I am able to be thankful for my friends, family, and teachers. In return, I show them respect. Thanlfulness will also apply to me later on the week as well (the upcoming thanksgiving). I will tell everyone in my household that I am thankful for having my whole family eat turkey with me. I will also be thankful for being able to have food in the first place, that we were all blessed with these gifts.

The feeling of thankfulness can only be achieved through experience. Only when a person has appreciation for something can that person be thankful. Sometimes, a person has to be deprived of something in order to appreciate it. For example, only when a friend leaves do you realize how much you really miss them. In fact, if someone is not deprived of something, he or she has not realized the true value of it and therefore cannot be “thankful” for it. Thankfulness is just another human emotion that makes up a human being, and if everyone learns to appreciate and be thankful of each other, the world can be a very loving place.

Thankful Essay

When I view the miraculous world God made for us, I can only imagine the exquisiteness He used in this handiwork. In my life, I possess so many blessings that I consider myself blessed beyond measure. To start with, I can say that one of the blessings for me and all the people in the United States consist of the honor of being a citizen of this great nation. Living in this country gives my family and others many advantages citizens of other countries are not honored to possess. For instance, as an American citizen, religious freedom and, as it states in the 15th amendment, the right to vote count as positive points for living in the nation. Next, my family, which I wouldn’t swap for any others, ranks as one of my greatest blessings. Since they hold great moral and ethical values, I consider them some of the most gracious Christian people ever encountered in my life. Last, my relationship with God takes precedence as another one of my most important blessings, probably the highest blessing. No matter how I act in life, God forgives and stays there for me. Therefore, I thank God each day for my life. As one can see, I hold many blessings in my life.
The only word I think of when the United States comes to mind is blessed. This thought comes because of all the freedoms I own. I know that our country lacks perfection, but I consider myself lucky to call the United States my home. The people who serve in the military make me proud to live in a country like this. Because of these special men and women serving in the military, they make it safe for us all to live here. These men and women not only fight specifically for our country, but they also willingly go and help other countries try to find peace. Just like Will, my brother, each person in the military serves for us so that we keep our freedom. They leave their homes,...
